We bid farewell to Robert Sturtz of Watertown, New York, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on February 10, 2026 at the age of 92. Robert touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Sturtz and Edna Sturtz (Rohr) of Namburg, NY.; and his daughter Sue Remley. He is survived by: his wife Jean Audrey Stewart; his children, Mary Shanahan (Mike), Nancy Tomlinson, Joann Bellinger (John) and Robert Sturtz II; and his siblings, Virgil Sturtze (Sue) and Barbara Nortz (Jack). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.

He served the local community on the following boards: Samaritan Foundation of Northern NY, American Red Cross of NNY, United Way of NNY, Carthage Area Hospital Foundation, WPBS Television (St. Lawrence Valley ETV Council), Hospice Foundation and Board, Economic Development Corporation of Carthage, DANC, and Jefferson Community College Foundation.

At my Mother Bernice Hirschey's wake in 2016, we conversed some and I shared that we had scanned my Grandma Rose Hirschey's diaries. I sent him an electronic file and he followed with a wonderful thank you and remembrance of his Grandma Eliza and Rose. Families close when he was growing up and he cherished that years later.
