In the soft embrace of remembrance, we recall the profound impact Edward had on those he encountered along his journey. Though Edward may have slipped beyond the veil of mortality, his essence lingers like a faint fragrance in the air, a lingering reminder of the beauty and complexity of the human experience.
He is survived by: his wife Jayne Schmidt; his children, Karen Canniff (Ryan Canniff) and Paul Schmidt (Ashton Dorsett); his grandchildren, Caelyn Canniff, Brynlee Canniff and Hattie Schmidt; and his brothers, Ronald Schmidt and Kenneth Schmidt. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the New Comer Cremations & Funerals (181 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Watervliet, NY 12189). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
Despite his Parkinson's, Ed never complained and instead chose to focus on spending time with his loved ones, finding happiness in the simple moments that mattered most.
