With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Nelson D. Powers (Watervliet, New York), who passed away on June 1, 2025 at the age of 86. In the vast expanse of eternity, Nelson shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Nelson farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Powers and Ruth E. Powers (Clark); his son Jody Powers; and his grandson Mark Powers. He is survived by: his wife Celia; his sons, Lee (Samantha) and Randy Powers; and his sister Barbara Stoddard (Powers). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the New Comer Cremations & Funerals (181 Troy-Schenectady Rd, Watervliet, NY 12189). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at the Graceland Cemetery (680 Delaware Ave, Albany, NY 12209).
