He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin VanBuren Hughes, Sr. and Evelyn E. Hughes (Lake); and his brothers, Martin VanBuren Hughes (Katherine) and Paul Hughes. He is survived by: his sister-in-law Ellen Hughes; his nephews, Martin Hughes, III, Scott Hughes (Joann), Paul Hughes, Jr. (Andrea) and Daniel Hughes (Meredith); and his niece Susan Hughes Boice (Dean). He is also survived by 14 grand-nieces and nephews, 18 great grand-nieces and nephews and 2 great-great-grand nieces.
