He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur C. Ellis and Helen Ellis (Dillon). He is survived by: his wife Lucille Ellis of Wayland; his children, Bonnie Kirkum (Lawrence) of Wayland, Donna Parks (Mike) of Wayland, Gary Ellis (Barb) of Springwater, Shirley VanDerMeid (Jim) of Wayland, Donald Ellis (Ellen) of Wayland, Cameron Ellis of Wayland and Stacy Page (Joe Marmo) of Rochester; and his brother-in-law Eugene Recktenwald of Wayland. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
