She was predeceased by: her parents, Pauline Thielges Sr. (Schirmer) and Raymond Sr. Thielges; her husband Joseph "Puss" O'Neal; and her siblings, Billy Thielges and Rita Bowers.

She is survived by: her children, Joseph "Brian" O'Neal (Brenda) of Wayland, William O'Neal (Melissa) of Wayland, Barbara Gessner of Wayland, Bonnie O'Neal of Wayland and Bobby O'Neal (Bobbie) of Wayland; and her brothers, Raymond J. Thielges Jr. of Perkinsville and Francis Thielges of Wayland. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Contributions in memory of Shirley D. O'Neal may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Center, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
