He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Sr. Spang and Ruth Spang; his in-laws, Gerald and Marguerite Morris; and his brothers-in-law, Robert Morris and Robert Leahy.

He is survived by: his wife Marilyn (Morris); his sons, Kevin (Jennifer), James (Rachael) and Daniel (Erin); his grandsons, Tristen Peterson, Teagan, Zachary, Matthew and Ethan Spang; his sisters, Karen Ives (Bill) and Linda Bennion (Bill); and his sister-in-law Joanne Leahy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
