He was predeceased by : his parents, Douglas M. Carey and Florence I. Jetty Carey; his wives, Sylvia J. Bagshaw and Helen Parker; and his siblings, Richard Carey, William Carey, Betty Kolczynski (Carey) and Susan Darrow (Carey).

He is survived by : his children, Douglas A. Carey, Stephen M. Carey, Deborah J. Carey and Lori A. Carey; and his sisters, Mary Smith (Carey) and Axton.
