He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving E. Whitesell and Thelma Edith Whitesell (Latten); his wife Shirley A. Nye; and his siblings, Milford C. "Skip" Whitesell, Donny "Joe" Whitesell, David I. "Tiny" Whitesell and Thelma "Betty" Patrick.
He is survived by: his sons, Richard Whitesell (Kathleen) of Wellsville, Paul Whitesell of Ohio and Steven Whitesell (Doris) of Florida; his stepsons, Ronald Nye Jr. (Mellisa) of Wellsville and Thomas Nye (Jill) of Wellsville; his siblings, G. Ronald Whitesell (Linda) of Andover and Darla Williams of Wellsville; and his close friend Betty Lewis of Wellsville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
