It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John J Komar Sr. of West Nyack, New York, born in Yonkers, New York, who passed away on July 17, 2023, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by : his parents, Yonkers Police Officer John J. and Jennie Komar (Fabiszewski); his daughter Susan J. Komar (Tallman); and his siblings, Alfred, James, Mildred, Edna and Evelyn.
He is survived by : his former life partner Dorothy L. Mollan; his wife Helen Trachtenberg of West Nyack; his sister Barbara Reed of Stony Point, NY; his son John Jr. of Brooklyn; his grandchildren, Brian, Mark, Kelly, Tracy and Lizzie; and his great grandchildren, Gavin, Emma, Abigail, Benjamin, Atticus, Connor, Hunter and Layla. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
