It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jamie Ryan Atkinson (West Sayville, New York), who passed away on June 27, 2025, at the age of 43, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Susan Atkinson and Harold Atkinson. He is survived by: his brothers, John Atkinson (Jen), Brian Atkinson (Hope), Daren Atkinson and Michael Atkinson (Meredith); and his nieces and nephews, Hunter, Greyson, Emily, Julia, Reese and Maeve.
He was instrumental in the county's COVID‑19 "think tank" within the Emergency Operations Center and continued to lead responses to complex emergencies.
