Ema will be remembered for the time spent with loved ones and the moments that brought joy to those around her. Friends and family will honor Ema by reflecting on shared memories and the positive influence she had in their lives. Though Ema is no longer present, the bonds she created and the experiences shared will endure. Ema’s memory will continue to be a source of comfort for all who knew her.
She was predeceased by: her father John Milton Thomason. She is survived by: her spouse Vernice "Vern" Bates; her sons, Ian and Jonathan Bates; her mother Esterlina Thomason; and her siblings, John (Linda), Eric and Esther Thomason. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home (1671 Maple Rd, Williamsville, NY 14221). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 11:30 AM at the Newman Center (495 Skinnersville Rd, Buffalo, NY 14228).
In lieu of flowers donations in Ema's memory may be made to the Dent Family Foundation.
