She was predeceased by: her husband Fred Pepperday Jr.; her daughter Karen M. Grapes (Dennis); and her parents, Henry Zimmer and Mary Zimmer. She is survived by: her children, Denise M. Zielski (John), Kim M. Pusch, Fredrick "Rick" Pepperday (Judy), Nanette M. Derry (late Bruce) and Jennifer M. Braun (Timothy); and her sister Annette Webb (Bill). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joan's memory to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
