He was predeceased by: his parents, Francis O'Brien and Elizabeth O'Brien (Grimmick); and his brothers, Frank "Skip", Richard and David O'Brien.

He is survived by: his wife Cheryl O'Brien (Ross); his children, John O'Brien (Jessica), Jenny Trombley (Tim) and Tammie O'Brien; his grandchildren, Brianna O'Brien, Joey, Samantha, Josh Trombley, Kali and Kasi Krikorian; his siblings, William O'Brien (Shirley), Steven O'Brien (Laurie) and Lori Allmann (Tim); and his sisters-in-law, Kathy, Joann and Sharon O'Brien. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
