He was predeceased by: his former wife Elaine Crawford (Thomas); his wife Barbara A. Crawford (Dawkins); his parents, Joseph M. Crawford Sr. and Dorothy M. Crawford (West); and his siblings, James "Jimmy" Crawford and Delores "Lovey" Oliver (Crawford).
He is survived by: his children, Carletta Eaton (Craword), Kathleen Crawford, Charles E. Crawford, Jr., Neal Crawford, Anita Crawford-Alston, Steven Crawford, Ericka Bess (Crawford), Dayna Priest, Bryan Priest and Donald Salmon; and his siblings, Joseph M. Crawford, Jr. and Joan "Sissy" Williams (Crawford). He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws, and a host of other relatives.
