He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Ryan and Edward J. Courtney. He is survived by: his daughters, Kerry Ann Carey (Sean), Maura Courtney-McSpedon (Rich) and Sheila McClintock (Patrick); his grandchildren, Ryan, Kevin, Kaitlin, Owen, Molly, Jack, Claire, Dermot and Maeve; and his family Ed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital as Ed prayed to St. Jude everyday.
