He was predeceased by: his wife Carol A. Messar (O'Rourke). He is survived by: his sons, Francis J. Messar III (Cathy) of Maywood, NJ and Michael B. Messar Capt (Anna); his grandchildren, Daniel, Brian, Meghan and Brendan; his sisters, Charleen Messar-Lipski (Walter) and Cathy Nappi; his close friend Nancy Scovotti; and his family Frank. He is also survived by nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

The family of Ret. Capt. Frank Messar has asked that donations be made to Tunnels 2 Towers (https://t2t.org) in lieu of flowers.
