John McFarland wrote a sympathy message

“This is John S. McFarland's son. My name is John Stephen McFarland Junior. My father was a firefighter who had helped by-side my mother, JoAnn McFarland, on the devastating event of 9/11. My father had died 23 years later because of the smoke he had inhaled that day. I remember even playing my DS in his hospital bed when he was hospitalized at our family's personal house. He had died early in the morning of February 6th. I had fallen asleep that night. The next day I woke up and went to say "Good Morning" to my Dad and he was gone, but the bed was still there. I was confused on what happened. I didn't really come to appreciate my father until the year after when I realized how much I had missed his presence. May he rest in peace and live forever inside the hearts of those who had loved him.”
