He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph R. O'Brien and Katherine E. O'Brien (Reilly); his son Joseph Robert O'Brien III; and his brother John O'Brien. He is survived by: his wife Pamela; his children, Karen Ortley (Fred) and Alex O'Brien; his grandchildren, Liam, Madeleine Ortley, Jack Pearson O'Brien and Vaida Hettinger; and his brothers, Christopher O'Brien (Vickie) and Patrick O'Brien. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
