She was predeceased by : her parents, Bobby L Gibson and Fannie Gibson; her daughter Candace Brazil (Terrell); her sister Sharon Dean (Lawrence James); her nephew Horace (Lee); her niece Azariah Lee; and her grandchildren, Tyson and Kaiden Odens.

She is survived by : her daughter Latasha Gibson (John Ross); her husband Ben Askew Jr.; her son Ben Askew III; her sisters, Kathy Smith and Edna Gibson; her children, Chantel Secession (Tim) and Lakenya Williams; her grandchildren, D'Niaya Brazil, T'Niaya Brazil, Ca'Niaya Brazil, Terrell Brazil Jr., Trinity Brazil, Alyssia Junius, Dream Junius, Darnell Engram Jr., Royalty, Asia, Latashae Inman, Jaela and Jerome Logan; her nieces, Kaneca Gibson (Deon Walker) and Shayla Gibson; her great-nieces, MarShay and Eva; her close friends, Sophie Lee Lewis, Veronica Boyer, Laurie White, Jerome Reed (AJ), Tracey Kelly and Maurice Carter; and her nieces, Trina and Gloria Lee.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Rhoden Memorial (1101 Palmetto Ave, Akron, OH 44306). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
