Bertha Mae Grant Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bertha Mae Grant (Akron, Ohio), born in Montezuma, Georgia, who passed away on June 10, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie B. Colzie and Birdia Mae Colzie; her siblings, Clara Emerson, Evelyn Rumph, Jennie Sanders, Sarah Colzie, J. C. Colzie, Jimmy, Jessie Lee Colzie and Eddie Colzie; and her son Reverend Bobby J. Grant.
She is survived by: her children, Barbara A. Grant, Jennie L. Smith (Larry), Dr. Fannie L. Grant (Bill), Dr. Jessie L. Grant (Ray) and William Eric Grant (Arletta); her adoptive son Juan "Man" Gibson; her grandchildren, Shanta R. Grant, Joceyln Grant, Kimiera Jerels Goodman, Erica Grant, Shannon Brown, Mae'Ishie Dawson, Wesley Brown (Aliza) and Aeden Grant; her great grandchildren, Samia Brown, Serenity Grant, Emerald Grant, Serenity Dawson, Avery Dawson and Winter Simone Jerels Goodman; and her close friends, Minister Marilyn Coney and Mattie Cotton. She is also survived by numerous other relatives, friends, and church family members.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Rhoden Memorial (1101 Palmetto Ave, Akron, OH 44306). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 at the Rose Hill Burial Park (3653 W Market St, Akron, OH 44333).
