It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Cheri L. Van Newkirk (Akron, Ohio), who passed away on November 10, 2025, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Cheri is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Cheri's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Florence Hewitt and Herman "Bud" Hewitt; her brother-in-law Jerry Putnam; her parents-in-law, Mimi and Frank Van Newkirk; and her friend Pam Isakov.
She is survived by: her son-in-law Shannon (Chris Miller); her grandson Logan; her sister Linda; and her friend Paula McGovern.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, on Wednesday, November 19th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM and from 11:30 PM to 11:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44305, USA). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 19th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
