He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Jean Byrd and Joseph Mills; his siblings, Ronald, Robert Mills and Carolyn Mills; his children, LaDonna Mills, Donald Mills III (Susan) and Edward Mills; his grandchildren, Mar'Siano Mills, Jayden Shippe-Lane and Jazlyn Mills; his niece Denita Mills; and his nephews, Erik Mahone, Osage Mills and Antwan Mills.

He is survived by: his children, Donte, Donovan, Gavin, Deirdra, Shannon, Donna, Cindy, Kristin, Dominique, Miranda and Savannah; his siblings, Francetta Lewis, Allen Hubbard and Stephanie Mills; and his grandchildren, Doniqua (Lamont), Delan, Jordan, Cheyenne, Kaylee, Arreon, Cameron, Anthony, Aniyla, Joshua, Kayla, Ramone, Niylan, Miranda, Mar'Shaun, D'Yauni, Demico, Demi, Mateo, Zaire, M'Kayla and Aaliyah.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jayden Shippe Lane scholarship fund at Kent State University.
