He was predeceased by : his parents, Jennings Baird and Evelyn Baird; his wife Janet; and his sister Velda Lou Armstrong. He is survived by : his children, Andrea Stem (Jeff), Doyle (Jenna), Derek (Jessica), Daryl (Amy) and Billy Baird (Patty); his grandchildren, Chloe, Isabella, Kassie, Danica, Lauren, Gavin and Nathan; his great grandchild Mavrick; his sister Peggy Snyder; his sister-in-law Sandra Gray; and his nephew Jon Gray.

“The man is a legend. He deserves to be honored. The city of Akron he put on the map as a boxer when boxers weren’t making any kind of money whatsoever. He helped heavyweight champion Michael Dokes get his start who became a world heavyweight champion. Again from Akron. The man deserves a parade.
