He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Markowski and Anne Markowski; his brother Walter Markowski (Barbara); and his son Michael Markowski. He is survived by: his wife Joan (Benninger); his children, Jeffrey Markowski, Susan Kurtz (Robert), Dr. Kevin Markowski (Helene) and Anne Marie Markowski; and his grandchildren, Dr. Ashley Markowski (Dan Martin), Andrew Markowski, Dr. Alexia Rust (Andrew), Jonathan Markowski, Abbigail Kurtz, Athena Markowski, Samuel Kurtz, Joseph Markowski and Benjamin Kurtz.
