It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jay W Friend (Akron, Ohio), who passed away on July 14, 2025, at the age of 68, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his stepparents, Fred Friend (Murph) and Mary Petrey (Lacy); his siblings, Pam Brown (Bobby), Fred, Bill and Robert Friend (Mary); and his nephew Little Bobby Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Shawna Ramirez (Brandon), Jayna Byrd (Mike) and Bryan Friend (Jessica); his grandchildren, Baleigh, Jayce, Cruz, Amira and Brynlee; his sisters, Debra Dills and Mary "Itsy" Harger; and his special little buddy Gunner. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation was held on Saturday, July 19th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Schlup-Pucak & Wilson Funeral Home (788 Kenmore Blvd, Akron, OH 44314).
