John W. Sloan Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John W. Sloan (Akron, Ohio), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on February 28, 2026 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Granville Osco and Verla Sloan (Black); and his siblings, Mary, Sallie, Max, Ray "Sonny" and Sheila.
He is survived by: his children, John II Sloan (Tracy), Jamie Sloan (Heather) and Katie Dull; his grandchildren, Addison, Hayley, Matthew, Aydin, Jordan, Logan and Raygan; his sister Joyce Maione; his niece Missie; and his cousin Virginia.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Park United Methodist Church (2308 24th St SW, Akron, OH 44314). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 14th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, March 17th 2026 at 2:15 PM at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery (10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eckard Baldwin Funeral Home, 760 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44305 to assist the family with funeral expenses.
