He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia Thoenen; his parents, Glen Thoenen and Beatrice Thoenen; and his siblings, Bill, Virginia-Mae and Lois.
He is survived by: his sons, John Jr. (Lori) and Todd (Dawn) of Hartville; his grandchildren, Brandi, Joel, Emerson, Mindy, Hannah and Courteney; and his great grandchildren, Logan, Skyler, Alexandria, Connor, Lincoln, Beckett and Selah.
