He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Gilbert and Carl Gilbert; and his brother Stanley Gilbert. He is survived by: his children, Kim Pennington (Don), Randy Gilbert (Karen), David Gilbert and Sharon Ruggiero (Tony); his grandchildren, Steven (Ashley), Lindsay Pennington, Adam (Hannah Clayton), Alexis Gilbert (Cole Baldwin), Zachary (Toni) and Mario Milano (Devin Mason); his great grandchildren, Grant, Elena, Noah, Nolan and Raelynn; and his brother-in-law William Enders.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home (547 Canton Rd, Akron, OH 44312). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, June 24th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church (2425 Myersville Rd, Akron, OH 44312).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
