He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Hammer and Mildred Hammer; his wife Agnes; and his siblings, Richard, Art, Ralph, Larry and Jean Robbins.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Janice Wagner; his children, Mary Grable, Joseph, Theresa Gibbs (Philip), Michael (Tammar) and Kathy Hodkinson (Keith); his siblings, Donna Lee Pasho and James Hammer (Clair); and his sister-in-law Jennifer Hammer. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, August 12th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Anthony Funeral Home - Akron Chapel (1990 S Main St, Akron, OH 44301). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, August 13th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Francis (4019 Manchester Rd, Akron, OH 44319). A graveside service was held on Thursday, August 13th 2026 from 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery (10175 Rawiga Rd, Seville, OH 44273).
