He was predeceased by: his parents, William L. Winkler and Maude E. Winkler (Fresh); his son William Walter Winkler; and his daughter-in-law Crystal Winkler. He is survived by: his wife Linda; his children, Amanda Varney, Madison Winkler, Curtis Winkler and Timothy Winkler (Amy); and his daughter-in-law Lisa Winkler. He is also survived by many grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
