He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Mathews and Patricia Mathews (Green); and his close friend Patricia Cleburn. He is survived by: his son Nicholas Mathews; his brother Jim Mathews; his sister-in-law Heather (Mathews); his nephews, Spencer and Tanner; and his niece Piper.
