We announce the death of Iona J. Risley (Alliance, Ohio), who passed away on August 31, 2026, at the age of 97. Iona will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Iona will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Iona will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Iona’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Walter C. Weekly and Loretta Weekly; her husband Edwin; her children, Robert E. Goshorn Jr., Darlene Schellenberger and Joyce Vickers; and her siblings, John A. Diettrich and Judy Donalson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Cindy Hartshorne of Hartville and Diana Kindler (Tony) of North Canton; her brother Robert Weekly; and her son-in-law Terry Vickers. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Cassady Turkle Christian Funeral Home (75 S Union Ave, Alliance, OH 44601). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
