He was predeceased by: his father Phillip Smith; and his former spouse Shirley Smith. He is survived by: his wife Christine Smith; his children, Shannon Hamrick (Mark), Seneca Taylor (James) and Sarah Coriell (Andrew); his grandchildren, Heather, Stephanie, Rylie and Branson; his mother Betty Smith; and his siblings, Kevin Smith (Sharon), Cindy Wilson (Rick) and Gretchen Hibbs (Kenny).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to VFW Ohio Charities in Steve's memory.
