He was predeceased by: his son Robert Lee Hester; his sisters, Judith Gail Huston, Deloris Ann Shelton and Faye Mitchell; his aunts and uncles, Billy Jo Bell, Myrtis Blackstone, Janie Hise, Jewell Fossett and Maureen Graham; and his parents, Ernest Hester and Vera Hester.

He is survived by: his wife Alice Hester; his children, Chris Hester of Lorain and Elizabeth Ann Humphreys of Amherst; his grandchildren, Victoria, Savannah, Virginia, Jeremy Nash, Grant Humphreys, Gwyneth Humphreys, April Schoolcraft and Hannah Hester; and his great grandchildren, Mathew, Liliana, Zachary, Haley, Rachel and Zaedyn.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Amherst United Methodist Church, 369 Park Avenue, Amherst.
