He was predeceased by: his former wife Georgene M. Vilagi; his sister June Vilagi; his granddaughter Lauren Kutchenriter; and his parents, Lewis Vilagi and Anna Marie Vilagi.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Mae Cowger Vilagi; and his children, John Vilagi (JoAnn) of Villa Hills, Sue Venzel (John) of Amherst, Scott Vilagi (Linda) of Amherst, Mike Vilagi (Kim) of Jacksonville, Burt Vilagi Jr. (Michelle) of North Ridgeville, Christopher Vilagi (Denise) of Brunswick and Edwin Cowger (Debra) of Amherst. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hempel Funeral Home (373 Cleveland Ave, Amherst, OH 44001). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Joseph Catholic Church (200 St Joseph Dr, Amherst, OH 44001).
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst, OH 44001 or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and Tunnel to Towers, 2361 Hylan Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10306.
