He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Gatten and Marie Gatten; and his brother Dennis Gatten. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his sons, Jon Gatten (Laurie) of North Ridgeville, Matthew Gatten of Amherst and Stephen Gatten of Amherst; and his grandchildren, Rachel, Kadin and Riley.
