Thomas O'Shaughnessy Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Thomas O'Shaughnessy of Amherst, Ohio, born in Elyria, Ohio, who passed away on August 1, 2025, at the age of 66, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Timothy O'Shaughnessy and Janet O'Shaughnessy; his siblings, Joanne O'Shaughnessy and Timothy O'Shaughnessy; and his nephews, Matthew and Jeremy Hildebrand.
He is survived by: his wife Kathleen O'Shaughnessy; his former wife Tina O'Shaughnessy; his children, Roger Garn, Katherine O'Shaughnessy (Cory Reinle), Ryan O'Shaughnessy, Rebecca Schmidt and Jay Schmidt; his grandchildren, Collin, Viola, Alianor, Matilda and Grace; his sisters, Janet O'Shaughnessy and Jane Hildebrand; and his nieces, Janet Howles (Wade) and Joely Hildebrand (Cássio Scofield). He is also survived by other extended family members and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, Sandusky Chapel (2001 Columbus Ave, Sandusky, OH 44870). A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 8th 2025 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Ridge Hill Memorial Park (44805 N Ridge Rd, Amherst, OH 44001).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lorain County Metro Parks, in honor of Tom's peaceful walks through the park with his Westies, Harry and Archie. Donations can be made online at https://www.loraincountymetroparks.com.
