He is survived by: his mother Leta Avers of Archbold; his wife Angie; his daughter Dr. Richelle Avers (Matthew) of Fargo, ND; his stepchildren, Jessica Grime Harris (Napoleon) and Jeremiah Grime (Nicky); his grandchildren, Charles Edward, Carlos Edward, Cahlil Edward, Napoleon, Carys, Kyrin, Lawson Grime and Kaleigh Pringle; his great grandchildren, Bryce, Savannah, Peyton and Brooks; his grandchildren, Adaline, Brexton, Braxton, Lilly, Ellie and Arabella; his siblings, Tom Avers (Brenda) and Carolyn Ruwe (Paul) of Gainesville, VA; and his nieces and nephews, Andrea, Eliza Avers, Samuel, Gregory and Raechal Ruwe of Gainesville, VA..
