We bid farewell to Barbara J. Markel of Ashland, Ohio, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on December 15, 2025 at the age of 89. Barbara touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, David Pence and Eva Jean Pence; her husband Howard R. Markel; her son-in-law John Stanley; her brother Daniel Pence; her sister-in-law Wilma Howman (Carl); and her uncle Ed Wahl.
She is survived by: her children, Laura Stanley of Ashland and David Markel (Wendy) of Mansfield; her grandchildren, David Markel (Megan Kankula) of Elyria, Jessica Miranda (Tony) of Elyria, Sabrina Stanley of Sarasota, Amanda Collazo (Victor) of Elyria, Courtney Ringler (Zach), Megan Marcinowski (Kyle), Kerry Snyder (Aaron) and Matthew Poland (Trish); and her sister-in-law Martha Pence of Bailey Lakes. She is also survived by many great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the Building Repair Fund at the Savannah United Methodist Church.
