He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Shoemaker and Beulah Shoemaker (Desenberg); his wife Elaine; his brothers, Oscar, Edward and William Shoemaker; his brothers-in-law, William Finley, George Finley and Dave Finley; his son-in-law Neil Topper; and his grandson Donovan Estill.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Roose (Rich), Marilyn Topper and David II Shoemaker (Judy); and his grandchildren, Tom Zimmerman (Kelly), Todd Zimmerman (Lisa), Richelle Deever (Scott), Linda Groscurth (John), Susie Scelson (Burling), Jon Shoemaker (Monja) and Kristin Dietz (Ryan). He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
