He was predeceased by: his parents, Eddie VanDriest and Shirley VanDriest (Gross); his grandparents, Ted, Laverne Kapiskosky, George VanDriest and Blanche Williams; his nephew Richard VanDriest; his uncle Zane; and his aunt Ruth Gross.
He is survived by: his children, George VanDriest Jr. (Cristin Beam) of Ashland, Damian VanDriest of Ashland, Vanessa VanDriest of Mansfield, Hope Ajian of Columbus and Crystal (Richard Mabry) of Mansfield; and his siblings, Veronica Hicks (Jeff) of Ashland, Kitty Leiter (Dave) of Ashland, Ted VanDriest of Ashland, Rick VanDriest of Ashland, Evelyn Bowen (Doug) of Ashland and Wayne VanDriest (Tanya) of Ashland. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and on great-grandchild.
