He was predeceased by: his parents, Margaret Capitena (Yusko) and Carl Capitena; and his siblings, Betty Jean Capitena, Marjorie Welch and Chuck Capitena.
He is survived by: his wife Donna; his children, Sandy Capitena, Mike Capitena (Dianne), Lorri Treen (Paul Calaway), Juli Capitena (Daniel Kuntz), Cindy Capitena (Paul Hilbert) and Mary Capitena-Bento (Tim Hunt, Jr); his grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Paul, Michael, Erin, Megan, Thomas, Andrea, Kimmy, Melanie, Anthony and Alexis; and his sister Delores Clarkson. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, many nephews, nieces, cousins, and good friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John School or Saybrook Fire Department.
