He was predeceased by: his grandson Kai Tennsion Nesius (Stephanie); his parents, Donald Evener (Mary Josephine Willis Evener) and Mary Jo Evener; and his brothers, Donald "Tink" Evener and Keith Evener.
He is survived by: his wife June Irene Hudnell Evener; his children, John Lee Evener, II (Selina), Stephanie Evener Nesius and Andy Evener; his grandchildren, Peyton Evener, Avery Evener, Isabella Evener and Lola Nesius; his sisters, Linda Evener Ewing, Sheila Evener Antle and Ruth Evener; and his sisters-in-law, Becky Evener and Dorothy Newton. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hughes Funeral Home (168 Morris Ave, Athens, OH 45701). A masonic service will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 24th 2025 at the Concord Union Church (12272 Concord Church Rd, Glouster, OH 45732).
