She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Ellis and Marion Ellis (Gentles); her brothers, Jack, Clarence, Jr., Charles, Robert and Herbert Paul "Scotty" Ellis; her sons, Daniel F., Jr. and Scott Schmidt; and her grandson Ryan Hofus.
She is survived by: her children, Brian Schmidt and Marion Mayle (Roger); and her grandchildren, Rebecca Stack (Scott), Daniel Schmidt, III (Laurie) and Brett Hofus. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Phyllis's memory to the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
