He is survived by: his son James Hipp Jr. of Akron; his stepchildren, William N. Dane (Coletta) of Canal Fulton, Debra Thornburg (Mike) of Akron and Cheryl Young (Don) of Canal Fulton; and his grandchildren, Tiffany, Jamie, Lindsay, Christopher, Jason Sr., Patrick, Alyssa, Megan, Andrew, Melissa and Robert Lee Jr.. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Visitation was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Swigart-Easterling Funeral Home (624 Cherry St E, Canal Fulton, OH 44614). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 21st 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
