He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph J. Parsons and Dorothy Ellis Parsons; his former wife Lynne E.; his daughter Shashawnee Dee Parsons; his brother James Ellis; his stepmother Geneva Jeffrey Parsons; and his stepbrother Danny Jeffrey.

He is survived by: his wife Rhonda Lee Parsons; his sons, Nathaniel, Caleb and Seth Parsons; his sister-in-law Sharon Ellis; and his siblings, Karen Walters and Joseph "Jody" J. Parsons II (Brenda). He is also survived by his nephews and nieces.
