He was predeceased by: his parents, Austin Merritt and Vada Mae Merritt (Adkins); his children, Donna Mae Roberts and Bradley David Drake; his great grandchild Joshua; and his brothers, Thomas L. Merritt, Homer Merritt, Christopher Merritt and James Merritt.
He is survived by: his wife Monna Merritt (Leach); his children, Brenda Rogers, Cyndi Burns (Jeff), Rebecca Lynn (Robert), David Merritt (Carol) and Dale Drake (Crystal); his grandchildren, Kenneth, Kimberly, Natasha, Stephanie, Andrea, Shawn, Michelle, Ryan, Alyssa, Justin, Jason, Jeremy, Julie, Ashley, Rachael, Tiffany, Jennifer, Jill, Jeff, Dale, Austin, Samantha and Brady; and his siblings, Eleanor Rickard, Edward Merritt, Robert Merritt, William Merritt (Marcia), Linda Hawkinberry and Betsy Smith (Larry). He is also survived by several great-granchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
