He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thomas and Celesta Minerva "Mattie" Grear; his wife Nancy Jean Grear (Hanlon); his great grandchild Colby Hannahs; his grandson-in-law Timothy Hayslett; and his siblings, Lucille Miller, Daisy Lehman of Dorothy Browning, J. T, Wanda Lynn, Glenn Grear, Juanita Gilham and Larry Grear.
He is survived by: his children, Jeanie Gallagher (Steve), Jay Grear (Carla), Jim Grear (Paula), Jodi Gallagher (Kent) and Janie Pryor (Richard); his grandchildren, Jennifer Wise (Jeff), Theresa Gallagher, Dyan Hannahs (Brian), Ryan Grear (Ashly), Shawna Bratlie (Dave), Keith Ropchock (Inessa), Anthony Grear (Arci), Brian Grear (Alitza), Sybil Carpenter, Kori Hayslett, Karri Kovalick (Steve), Kaiti Panepucci (Chris), Kati Anderson, Malorie Kubat (Michael), Chelsea Grimes (Shane) and Morgan Stephen (Devin); his great grandchildren, Ethan, Corbin, Brody, Jayna Sefert (Bruce), Kaelan (Tori), Kalie, Kylee, Kaitlynn, Kiera, Mackenzie Amstutz (Lukas), Drew, Alexis, Leia, Aizen, Ivan, Ella Louis (Daniel), Emmy, Gracy (Scott), Gideon, Ben, Jack, Sam, Gabriel, Sarah, Alec, Maia, Jude, Jordy, Bowen, Zoey, Linden, Iris and Maren; and his great great grandchildren, Jay, Lainey, Titus and Bodie.
Visitation was held on Sunday, August 23rd 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and on Monday, August 24th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home (319 N Chestnut St, Barnesville, OH 43713). A funeral service was held on Monday, August 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, August 24th 2026 at the Crestview Cemetery.
