He was predeceased by : his parents, Jack Burns and Barbara Burns; and his brothers, Jack Allyn Burns and Timothy Burns. He is survived by : his wife Linda Burns; his children, Johnathan Burns, Nathan Burns (Dana Redd), Jennifer Hall (David) and Brian Burton (Tiffany); and his sisters, Lola Royalty (Jeff), Katrina Jenkins (Mike) and Regina Sharp (Rick). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Moore Family Funeral Homes - Batavia (225 Spring St, Batavia, OH 45103). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution's in John's honor may be sent to the Department of Veteran's Affairs.
